It isn't every morning that you are woken up by the country's foremost astronomer, yet at 8.47am today, whilst I was driving what appeared to be some form of Shearman Tank through Windsor Safari Park, I was awoken from my bizzare dream by the ringing of my mobile phone.
Despite not getting to it in time, Sir Patrick Moore left a message stating that he would be happy to welcome me next week, provided I could make my way down to Sussex. I subsequently phoned him back, apologised for the slothful hours that I keep, and thanked him warmly for being so amenable.
"Oh yes very easy," he replied. "It's the one with the observatory in the garden".
