I would firstly like to point out that I am well aware that there are 2 identical pictures in the right hand column of this website. I am trying to rectify the situation, although having mentioned that I am to computer programming what Gengis Khan was to child-minding, I am awaiting for the response of Melissa at Typepad to tell me what to do.
Today I had my 3rd meeting. It was with John Motson who proved to be incredibly generous both with his time and with his memento, although more on that in a moment. As Michael and myself traded insults in a traffic jam on the A 40, just short of the BBC centre, my telephone rang.
Once again I was taken aback and delighted in equal measures, to hear that it was a call from one of the 500 to whom I recently wrote. John Francome has always struck me as being an absolutely top individual. Aside from being one of our most successful ever Jockeys, his punditry nowadays is always very entertaining. He kindly suggested that it would be no problem at all to meet with him, and so in a couple of weeks I will be attending Newmarket racecourse to do so.
Having always been someone who enjoys the occasional bet, generally laying money on Tiger Woods whenever a golfing event takes place, I will probably stay to watch the racing as well. Therefore if anyone reading this has any tips, not including wittisims such as "yeah, don't chop wood in a dinghy", feel free to forward them on. Perhaps I might even make enough money to quit the day job and devote more time to this project.
At this point I would also like to greatly thank his agent Katie for passing my letter on.
In addition, this morning I also received an email from Lisa (a big thank you to her too), the agent of Ricky Gervais, who regretted to inform me that since Ricky was totally inundated with work at the moment, he would not be able to meet me. This is, of course, totally understandable. Being the hottest property in comedy right now, it's not altogether surprising that numerous demands are being made of him on a daily basis.
